Lowry Real Estate

If you are interested in a story that goes along with your Denver real estate you may want to have a look at one of the most interesting metropolitan Denver neighborhoods, Lowry. Lowry is the only one of Denver neighborhoods that can claim to have been a sanatorium and a former Air Force base. Yes, the Lowry Denver real estate area is located on a former Air Force Base in metropolitan Denver. This suburban neighborhood is convenient to all points of Denver. It is 15 minutes from Denver center and 25 minutes from the airport. It's also very close to the famous Cherry Creek Mall which is good news for folks who like their Denver homes near to the best shopping in the west.

The history of Lowry is replete with intrigue and romantic visions of a full scale Air Force Base. Starting as a sanatorium for Tubercular patients, the Lowry neighborhood transformed into an Air Force Base named Lt. Francis Lowry an airman who was killed in WW1. The vase was an active training facility from 1937 to 1994 and even served as Dwight Eisenhower's summer Whitehouse from 1953 to 1955, how's that for history! This is truly unique Denver real estate that would be hard to find in other Denver neighborhoods. The neighborhood today is the result of the Lowry Redevelopment Corporation founded in 1992 to redesign the base and make it a unique and desirable setting for Denver homes.

The whole Lowry area was on its way to a total rebirth by 1996. It really was a rebirth too with infrastructure being redesigned and all types of Denver real estate being developed. Commercial centers were designed and built, new roads being paved through the area and a whole new selection of Denver homes being offered. In 1998, the first Parade of Homes was held giving birth to a premier Denver neighborhoods resurgence.

In 2008, Lowry will have over 4,000 new Denver homes spanning the range from smaller apartments to million dollar single family residences. Close to 10,000 new jobs will be available, replacing those lost when the base closed. As far as a planned community goes, Lowry has proven to be a valuable piece of Denver real estate for families and investors alike. There are some amenities we shouldn't forget to mention that you may not get in other Denver neighborhoods. Amenities such as 800 acres of open space to enjoy, and for golf fans a choice of two 18 hole professional golf courses! Lowry is all about vibrancy and community and should be on your list of Denver real estate to check out.
