Jefferson County Homes
The Colorado School of Mines also calls Jefferson County home. It is a state supported school that offers programs in mining and engineering. Jeffco is a common nickname for this county, and has been incorporated in many different businesses and slogans in the area, including the Jeffco School District and the Jeffco Business Center Metropolitan District Number 1. Even the airport, now known as the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport, was once known as the Jeffco Airport. Historically, Jefferson County real estate was originally created into a territory in 1859, because the mining region didn't feel connected to the territories of Kansas and Nebraska.
History Of Jefferson County Real Estate
Jefferson County was one of 12 counties formed as a part of Jefferson Territory, which was named after Thomas Jefferson. Golden City became the county seat right away, and although the territory wasn't ever federally sanctioned, it became a part of Colorado in 1861 when President Buchanan signed an act organizing 17 counties into a state, including Jefferson County. The county spans 54 miles in length, which is much smaller than where it started. A lot of Jefferson County real estate was given to Park County in 1908, and Denver County and Broomfield County in 2001, which brought some population decline, but not enough to make a large impact on the economy of the county overall.
